Susan G. Komen yields to the Will of their Progressive Overlords – Will continue to fund Planned Parenthood
Susan G. Komen for the Cure announced Friday it was reversing its decision to end grants to Planned Parenthood, after facing mounting pressure from pro-choice lawmakers and accusations that the breast cancer awareness organization had bowed to political influences.
“We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women’s lives,” the group said in a statement.
The statement from Komen founder Nancy Brinker and the Board of Directors defended the organization’s intentions. The group has claimed all along that its decision was not a political one, and that it was merely setting responsible standards for grant money.
“The events of this week have been deeply unsettling for our supporters, partners and friends and all of us at Susan G. Komen. We have been distressed at the presumption that the changes made to our funding criteria were done for political reasons or to specifically penalize Planned Parenthood. They were not,” the group said.
Komen announced that it would change those criteria. Originally, Planned Parenthood was disqualified because of criteria that barred funding to groups that are under investigation — Planned Parenthood is being probed by a Republican Florida congressman. Going forward, Komen will not count “political” investigations.
Just another example of the double standard the left lives by!!! I don’t care what political leaning you are, you don’t break your own rules and guidelines just because of pressure from one side or the other! There are thousands of notable organizations who probably deserve the funds that Komen is now going to give PP, all because the left has coerced them into breaking their own standards. SHAME ON YOU KOMEN FOUNDATION for not having the backbone to stand up for your own standards.
Planned Parenthood was founded on blood, and survives on the blood of human children. It was founded by Margaret Sanger, her very name means blood, and it was designed to get rid of African Americans by killing them before birth. She spoke at various K.K.K meetings and tricked African American preachers into supporting her drive.
It literally turns my stomach to see the SGKF slogan, “Celebrating Life, Love & Hope” what a disgusting out-and-out straight up lie. How the ef are you celebrating life by handing over, without consent, donations made by well-meaning people to baby butchers? How? PP doesn’t even offer mammograms!
Honestly, I feel terrible. Mostly because I had my head in the sand and had no idea SGKF gave money to PP. I’m shocked and disgusted. I can promise this, they’ll never see another dime from my house until they realize cutting ties WAS the smart decision.
Hollywood has become the true bully pulpit.
Wherever you stand on issues, Hollywood is the land where the famous people are stunted development children who now gang up to have a chilling effect on our laws, policies and picking the worst and most unqualified president in history.
Sketchy organizations seek them out to be “their public face” and “educate them about their issues” which the dumb celeb does for PR and fat checks.
Religious leaders had feared the worst from Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and her Department of Health and Human Services, which since September has been considering whether to exempt Catholic and other religious employers from a regulation mandating insurance coverage for sterilization and contraceptives, including some that cause abortion.
But on Friday afternoon, Sebelius announced the bad news in the most offensive way possible. Refusing even the smallest compromise with religious employers, she simply gave them an extra year to comply with the law.
“This decision was made after very careful consideration, including the important concerns some have raised about religious liberty,” Sebelius wrote in a brief statement from HHS. “I believe this proposal strikes the appropriate balance between respecting religious freedom and increasing access to important preventive services.”
It amazes me how the libs “interpret” the Constitution of the United States of America in context with the Bill of Rights.
Only when it’s CONVENIENT do they determine the non-existent “Separation of Church & State” when it comes to governmental agencies, BUT when it comes to non-profit Churches, they completely turn a 180, and suddenly, there is no Church & State separation as the State telling the Church what they will, and will not, do.
This isn’t hypocrisy. This is blatant disregard for the Bill of Rights, and the rights of non-profit churches. Libs, you CANNOT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!
This is all about Population Control. Sebelius is the grim reaper/the ever watchful life preventer of this group. She is your worst nightmare for being anointed to have this much control over healthcare for so many.
The war on Catholics and religion by the Obama administration started as subtle but now it’s becoming less so. Reagan warned of a government healthcare plan back in the 60′s, because he realized that it will take over every facet of your personal life and liberty. Religious beliefs are attacked as hate speech. Freedom of religion is becoming freedom to worship on Sunday, but other than that watch out!
Another example of the Obama administration trampling on the United States Constitution, and the rights and liberties it is intended to protect. This administration intends to drive the United States of America into a European-style secular socialist state…and look at how well that’s turned out for Europe!
This MUST stop…November 2012…Not only Anybody But Obama, but the Democrat-controlled Senate MUST return to conservative control…Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, and Chuck Schumer MUST be marginalized.
President Obama marks 39th anniversary of Roe v Wade recognizes that abortion is a “Fundamental Constitutional Right” but doesn’t mention rights of the murdered.
President Barack Obama says the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to recognize the “fundamental constitutional right” to abortion and to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”
The 1974 U.S. Supreme Court nationalized abortion law, prohibiting states from deciding on the matter. In his written statement, Obama acknowledged that abortion has been a divisive political issue.
Obama, while serving in the Illinois State Legislature and as president of the United States, has taken a hard line on abortion rights.
In his statement on the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade ruling, Obama said it reflects the broader principles of America.
“As we mark the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, we must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters,” Obama said. “I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.
“While this is a sensitive and often divisive issue — no matter what our views, we must stay united in our determination to prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant woman and mothers, reduce the need for abortion, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption,” Obama said.
“And as we remember this historic anniversary, we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”
Since 1973 there is a whole generation of men and women who are missing from this country. They would have been taxpaying teachers, policemen, doctors, farmers or even your next door neighbor. But their lives were taken because of convenience or because of pressure from boyfriends, pimps or even parents. It is truly sad. And our nation is suffering because of it.
President Barack Obama says the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to recognize the “fundamental constitutional right” to abortion and to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.” And as usual there is no mention of the rights of the murdered.
Obama says that government shouldn’t get into a woman’s private life, but I guess he thinks it’s OK for the government to get into a church’s business when it is forcing them to pay for abortions and contraceptives which goes against the tenants of their faith.
“We must remember that this Supreme Court decision not only protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom, but also affirms a broader principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters,” the President said in a statement. ”I remain committed to protecting a woman’s right to choose and this fundamental constitutional right.” -Obama
The last time I checked, the percentage of abortions performed due to rape, incest or to save the life of the mother is under 1 percent. If women want reproductive freedom they can use birth control or keep their knees together. The right to murder your own child is not a God given right or a right granted by the constitution. What fundamental constitutional right is Obama committed to protecting? Privacy regarding family matters maybe? Maybe that’s why the administration wants start weighing our kids. Or allowing school employees to take children to abortion clinics without their parents’ permission or knowledge. Or trying to forces us to buy products we don’t want or need. I can’t wait until the Obama Reign of terror is over, finished, kaput.
Legalized abortion on demand is the vilest decision ever handed down by the Supreme Court.
Abortion is anti-life and a sin against God who gives us life now abortion on demand is used as birth control and is a multibillion dollar industry. Tax dollars should never be used to support this evil industry.
The pro-death abortion crowd has now convinced thousands of women and young girls that destroying an unborn child is no more wrong than having a cancer removed. Those advocates of death will answer to God for the evil they have inspired.
If killing babies helps you fulfill your dreams, your dream is a nightmare!
Wife of Abortion Doctor Pleads Guilty to Butchering Hundreds of Third Trimester Babies at Husband’s Clinic
From: Philadelphia Christian Living Examiner
Pearl Gosnell, 50, the wife of abortion Doctor Kermit Gosnell pleaded guilty to performing an abortion after 24 weeks, criminal conspiracy and participating in a corrupt organization according to the District Attorney’s office.
According to the grand jury report released in January, the “Women’s Medical Society” was the name of the clinic at 3801 Lancaster Avenue, run by Kermit Gosnell, M.D. for almost four decades. The clinic reeked of animal urine, courtesy of the cats that were allowed to roam (and defecate) freely. Furniture and blankets were stained with blood. Instruments were not properly sterilized. And scattered throughout, in cabinets, in the basement, in a freezer, in jars and bags and plastic jugs, were fetal remains.
Pearl Gosnell who has no medical license, worked at the clinic as a full-time medical assistant from 1982 until she married Kermit Gosnell in 1990. After that, she said she worked there “maybe every other day,” bringing “paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, soap.” On Sundays she assisted in the procedure room and monitored the patients in the recovery room.
Pearl claimed that she was certified to take temperatures and blood pressure by Lyons Technical Institute, but could not produce any records because she said the school had close. She is licensed in cosmetology.
Six other clinic employees have already pleaded guilty and plan to testify against Kermit Gosnell according to published reports.
Common Pleas Court Judge Benjamin Learner set Pearl Gosnell’s sentencing hearing for February 15.
What’s the problem here, libs? The “Good” Doctor Butcher was just making sure the woman’s decision to abort was being carried out, wasn’t he? At least he didn’t put the babies in a room by themselves to die, a decision supported by Dear Leader when he was a state senator in Illinois.
This is where you get to when you begin the journey down the path of parsing human life into segments of declining value; when you begin to rationalize some lives into being less valuable than others, whether it be by race or by life-stage. What the Nazi regime did to Jews, Gypsies, Communists, homosexuals, Slavs and others, Kermit Gosnell did to babies through the very same intellectual process. You would think that, being a reasonably bright species, somehow we would learn that lesson but we never do. For some God forsaken reason we seem to have to go down that road again and again and again, always ending up in the same place, and always wondering how we got there.
Kermit Gosnell is a perfect example of why it’s stupid and counter-productive to make late-term abortion (or any term abortion, really) illegal. When you drive something underground and into the domain of people who are willing to operate outside of the law, there are no codified professional standards of conduct that they must meet in order to maintain their livelihood, because hey, they’re already criminals. If you want to know who is truly responsible for the pain and death inflicted by Gosnell, look at the legislators who made it impossible for qualified and responsible doctors to legally provide the services he offered.
There are millions of liberal Democrats out there who sincerely believe that abortion is a right, and that killing fetuses is morally equivalent to clipping toenails. The premise of abortion is that a fetus is not a human being, and upon this rotten foundation the entire edifice of Planned Parenthood has risen.
These guys just went a little too far. They’ll cut their plea bargains, do their time, but the abortion express will go chugging along…aided by the federal government to the maximum possible extent until Obama leaves DC.
Although Santorum called for ending tax subsidies to the abortion business, Christina Carberry, the president of the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance at the University of Iowa, told the Daily Iowan newspaper she disagreed.
“I think it’s unfortunate that the Republican candidates choose to focus on choosing a right that women have been given as opposed to talking about other major issues in our country like the economy,” Carberry said.
“We need more funding for Planned Parenthood so it can create jobs for people”
I am sure Nazi Germany had the same economic concerns to keep the Concentration Camps operational as well.
The Wicked Witch of the West former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave a press conference and announced that Republicans who voted for the Protect Life Act, a bill that strips the funding of abortion out of ObamaCare, want women to “die on the floor.”
Not quite Pelosi, Republicans simply believe helpless babies shouldn’t be killed in the womb.
The House approved a bill, the Protect Life Act, to stop abortion funding in Obamacare. Senate Democrats are not expected to approve the bill and, pro-abortion President Barack Obama is expected to veto the measure if it reaches his desk.
H.R. 358, Protect Life Act, makes it clear that no funds authorized or appropriated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), including tax credits and cost-sharing reductions, may be used to pay for abortion or abortion coverage. It specifies that individual people or state or local governments must purchase a separate elective abortion rider or insurance coverage that includes elective abortion but only as long as that is done with private funds and not monies authorized by Obamacare.
First Nanc, a little reality check for you, here are the five steps to a Partial Birth Abortion:
1) Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby’s legs with forceps.
2) The baby’s leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
3) The abortionist delivers the baby’s entire body, except for the head.
4) The abortionist jams scissors into the baby’s skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the skull.
5) The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.
Aside from the fact that abortion is an evil practice, Pelosi misrepresents the issue here. The bill in question is to ensure that taxpayer funded abortions are not included in Obamacare. Pelosi always claims that government does not pay for abortions—then vomits up THIS kind of reaction over a bill that is designed to do assure that is so.
C’mon Lady “Women dying on the floor?” There are many other avenues open to women who insist on killing their babies—no conscientious taxpayer should have to spend one cent for this abomination, nor subsidize the irresponsible lifestyle of someone else.
And no low-life like Nancy Peloser should ever have a forum for imposing a fraudulent guilt trip on anyone who disagrees with her depraved views.
What Ms Pelosi is talking about is “government paid for abortions.” These women she claims who are going to “die on the floor” can always go to a hospital that accepts insurance or cash and have an abortion done there. However, what actually happens is that the same women who have irresponsible sex are also the ones who are not responsible about paying their own bills so they want the tax payers to pay for their irresponsible actions.
The more we subsidize irresponsibility the more of it we can expect; when we decided to pay women for having children out of wedlock, the number of abortion more than tripled. When we decided to pay for abortions it became the preferred method of birth control for thousands of women. Making it more…
Planned Parenthood demanding tax dollars to fund abortions is no different legally (the morality of it is a separate case) than the NRA demanding that the government issue firearms to anyone who wants one. And no conservative, not one, would ever make such a demand, because we understand that rights are things to be protected FROM government interference, not provided for BY the government.
It’s bad enough that abortion is legal; compounding the problem by making it a government-provided “entitlement” is one step from it being a government-provided REQUIREMENT.
Now, if we compare abortion to wars:
Who’s really dying in America?
Revolutionary War – 4,435 deaths. (1.73 deaths per day)
Civil War (both sides) – 498,332 deaths. (310 deaths per day)
World War I – 116,708 deaths. (291 deaths per day)
World War II – 407,316 deaths. (338 deaths per day)
Korea – 25,604 deaths. (28 deaths per day)
Vietnam – 58,168 deaths. (21 deaths per day)
Iraq – 4,477 deaths. (1.44 deaths per day) as of 9-29-11
Now for the death toll most Americans ignore:
Abortion since 1973 – 53,670,812 deaths (3,974 deaths per day)
What does Pelosi say to that?
One last one to put those Pro-Lifers into perspective: Number of deaths in clinic bombings and shooting of doctors: 8
The really sad part, in addition to watching such deplorable people like Pelosi, Obama, Wasserman-Schultz embarrass themselves, is that they really wouldn’t care IF a woman died on the floor.
These people are about power, tax dollars and votes. They do not believe in the Constitution, which means they don’t believe in rights endowed by our creator. The left likes the power to give rights to those who vote for them and fill their campaign accounts.
Pelosi, Obama, Wasserman-Schultz and the rest of them, they’d let a woman die on the floor, if she were a conservative or a Republican.
The Illinois Department of Public Health suspended the license for the Northern Illinois Women’s Center on Broadway…until further notice.
According to the suspension notice, “The department found conditions at the facility that are a direct threat to the public interest, health, safety and welfare requiring immediate, emergency action.”
The health department cites numerous alleged violations.
According to records obtained by Rockford’s Pro-Life Initiative, all three operating rooms failed safety inspections, equipment used to sterilize medical instruments failed tests, the clinic failed a requirement that a registered nurse must always be in the operating room, and shoes were stored inside an open box of surgical gloves.
Melissa Ohden – Putting a Face on Abortion
There are stand out moments in your pro-life walk that bring everything about what you believe front and center and highlight it in startling clarity. I had one yesterday.
There I sat in the middle of a severe thunderstorm, enclosed in a classroom packed with campers, camp team, and a few small people who are campers in training — one or two of them still in utero. The storm was RAGING outside, but we were all pretty cozy inside — safe from the storm– but also quite comfortable and happy in that we knew we were surrounded by people who shared our passion for life.
At the front of the room one of my favorite pro-life speakers was sharing her story. Melissa Ohden survived a saline abortion late in pregnancy. She is a beautiful, funny, articulate, passionate, and amazing person.
The kids were spellbound and—as they say—you really COULD have heard a pin drop as she reminded them that out of millions who were killed, she is one of the very fortunate few who survived.
I happened to look up at that moment and realized that she was standing right in front of the wall where we have our baby faces display — a representation of the number of children killed by abortion every day in America. There against the backdrop of more than 3,000 of the children who, like her, were targeted for death, stood this one miraculous reminder that EVERY life is precious, unique, and beyond value.
Then Melissa brought the truth even further into focus by drawing our attention to her daughter, Olivia, who is three. Had the abortionist who targeted Melissa carried out his plan to take her life, not only would Melissa not be here, but Olivia never would have been, either.
Talk about a moment of truth. It’s so easy to forget among the numbers and statistics that EVERY SINGLE LIFE is priceless beyond measure. That every child lost to abortion has a name and a face. A personality. A sense of humor. Passion, talents, gifts and the absolute ability to change his or her world for the better.
I’m so grateful that my friend Melissa survived. I’m even more thankful that she has chosen to lend her voice to the voiceless. And that she’s raising her daughter to cherish life and speak up for those who are in danger.
This delightful little girl, by the way, has a pretty vast doll collection, among which are several tiny 12-week fetal models. They are all her “babies” and Olivia makes no distinction based on size or level of development.
As she sat on the floor with two other little girls, wrapping our camp fetal models in scarves and rocking them, I realized something pretty important. The storm may be raging outside — literally and figuratively — and when we leave this place we may face a lot of opposition, but…
The campers here, and even the little ones who are too young to understand the full impact of the arguments in defense of life, are going to stand strong even when the wind blows.
We are raising up a generation of kids who get it. We are training them. We are equipping them to speak the truth in love. And because of that, we are winning.
Abortion Made Illegal: Mississippi Personhood Initiative
K. Douglas Lee
We’ve begun a battle of enormous consequence to our entire nation here in the great state of Mississippi. Abortion is on the November 8 ballot in Mississippi, in the form of an initiative to change the state constitution by defining “person” as any human from the moment of fertilization. The amendment is based on statements made by the judges who voted in favor of abortion during the Roe v. Wade oral re-arguments.
Unlike some other states, it is very difficult to get a voter initiative on the ballot in Mississippi; this year, we have three initiatives that would amend our state constitution, a truly remarkable feat. All three are key conservative issues in an overwhelmingly conservative state: abortion, voter identification, and eminent domain abuse. Personally, I’m hoping for a triple play, and voting “YES!” on all three. The issue that I am working on, however, is abortion.
When this battle is won in Mississippi, it doesn’t just set up a challenge to Roe v. Wade, it eviscerates that case and all of its unholy progeny. It gives a method by which every state in the nation can extend the most basic civil rights to the most innocent and deserving members of the human race — our unborn children.
When is a person a “person”?
All humans deserve equal protection of the laws and the right to due process, but the law only extends these rights to every “person.” Thanks to the outstanding work of Personhood Mississippi, we in Mississippi will have the chance to be the first state in the history of our union to define a “person” to include all unborn humans. Initiative 26 will define the term person as follows:
SECTION 33. Person defined. As used in this Article III of the state constitution, “The term ‘person’ or ‘persons’ shall include every human being from the moment of fertilization, cloning or the functional equivalent thereof.
If Mississippians vote Yes on Amendment 26, all human beings would be ensured equal rights in our state and protection under law, regardless of their size, location or developmental stage. Calling abortion “murder” will no longer be merely a moral judgment, but an established legal determination. In other words, abortion will be illegal.
Mothers in crisis will be protected from the greedy corporations that kill their unborn children and do immense medical and psychological harm to these mothers while reaping billions of dollars in profits. As a bonus, human cloning, embryo stem cell research, and other forms of medical cannibalism would be effectively stopped, necessarily focusing the attention of medical researchers on approaches that have been proven to actually work (like adult stem cells) and do not require the killing of an innocent person. This initiative also stops Obamacare from funding abortions in the state of Mississippi with your tax dollars; after all, anyone performing an abortion will be arrested.
Abortionists are spreading many lies about our initiative, but the truth is that all forms of contraception that merely inhibit the egg from hooking up with a sperm will still be legal and easily obtainable, and in vitro fertilization (IVF) will still be legal and as obtainable as it is now. (Unfortunately, this also means that the law won’t stop public schools from handing out condoms to your children, but let’s take these things one step at a time.)
Direct democracy vs. judicial tyranny.
As a father, husband, a “person” and most of all a Christian, I am thrilled with the intended result. As lawyer and a constitution-loving conservative, however, I must confess that I am also enamored with the process that is leading to this result. First of all, this is a people’s initiative, not a decision by seven old men in black robes playing gods. Voter initiatives are direct democracy, an expression of the will of the people. The contrast could not be greater: the most democratic form of state government rejecting the tyranny of the least democratic branch of our federal government. This truly is government of the persons, by the persons, and for the persons.
Civil rights: not just for the born anymore.
More than that, however, the idea behind personhood came from the very court case that has robbed 53 million unborn Americans of their right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” During oral arguments on the infamous Roe v. Wade debacle, there are several times when personhood was discussed, including this chilling exchange:
Ms Sarah Weddington: I would have a very difficult case. [Laughter]
Justice Potter Stewart: You certainly would because you’d have the same kind of thing you’d have to say that this would be the equivalent to after the child was born.
Ms Sarah Weddington: That’s right.
Justice Potter Stewart: If the mother thought that it bothered her health having the child around, she could have it killed. Isn’t that correct?
Ms Sarah Weddington: That’s correct.
The Court thus made the point that the abortionists would lose “if it were established that an unborn fetus is a person within the protection of the Fourteenth Amendment,” and the abortionists’ attorney agreed. Why was this such an obvious conclusion? If you base the right of a mother to kill another “person” solely on “medical privacy” grounds, then a mother could legally kill any person regardless of whether the person’s date of birth is in the future or the past. If “medical privacy” is the only grounds to consider, and if an individual’s status as a “person” cannot be considered, then a mother could have her newborn or five year old killed out of “medical privacy” concerns.
But, an individual’s status as a “person” is all-important; it is the trump card of all trump cards. In order to allow abortion at will after “person” is defined to encompass all unborn children, Court would have to find that the right to medical privacy must be so inviolate that it becomes a license to kill other “persons,” who are just as much a “person” as the mother. Fortunately, every “person” is entitled to due process and equal protection of the laws, and a mother cannot legally kill any “person.” Thus, when an unborn child is constitutionally considered to be a “person,” said Justice Stewart, “this would be the equivalent to after the child was born.” In short, an (unborn) person is a (newborn) person is an (adult) person.
It is clear that once the legal definition of “person” includes all unborn children, then they are entitled to equal protection of the laws (such as our laws against homicide in its various forms) and due process. Their inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness can no longer be denied to them by Planned Parenthood.
After reading the oral argument exchange I quoted above, you may well wonder why the Court ultimately ruled for the abortionists. In the following exchange, we see how the abortionists (and ultimately the Court) managed to get around the rights of the unborn:
Justice Harry A. Blackmun: Well, do I get from this then that your case depends primarily on the proposition that the fetus has no constitutional rights?
Ms Sarah Weddington: It depends on saying that the woman has a fundament constitutional right and that the state has not proved any compelling interest for regulation in the area.
Notice the sidestep; the abortionists’ lawyer wanted nothing to do with any discussion of the constitutional rights of the unborn. Instead, she wanted to focus solely on the constitutional privacy rights of the mother, which she could do only because there was no definition of “person” in Texas law or federal constitutional law.
This remains the abortionists’ tactic today. In public hearings being held throughout Mississippi by our Secretary of State, abortion zealots make all the usual arguments about women’s rights, women’s health, focusing on jobs and socialist utopian healthcare schemes, blah blah blah, but they never utter a single word about the unborn child. On July 26, I joined many others who spoke on behalf of Initiative 26 in Hattiesburg. With both logic and passion we discussed the many adverse health and psychological effects on mothers, women’s rights, medical privacy, birth control issues and government intrusion into our lives — we are not monolithic in our arguments by any means. Yet we, the pro side, were the only ones to discuss the actual wording of the initiative, and we were the only ones to discuss the rights of the unborn. Indeed, we were the only ones to even mention the unborn.
Folks, now is the time, and Mississippi is the place to have this battle. I know that everyone has been focused on the interminably long debt ceiling debacle; indeed, I followed that horror show in-depth as well. Still, it is merely the crisis du jour, and it will pass — there’s nothing more you can do about it, so perhaps you should focus on something that you can help out with. Our biggest need in this battle is public awareness, and talking about this initiative, writing about this initiative, commenting about this initiative and voting for this initiative will have a tremendous effect.
Every day that we do nothing about the American Holocaust, thousands of innocent children lose their lives, and their mothers are brutalized by the most efficient killing machine since Nazi Germany: Planned Parenthood. Besides, if you want to restore America to its former greatness, and make it the world’s greatest defender of freedom and its engine of prosperity, your first goal must be to defeat and utterly destroy liberalism. This cannot be done without taking the holiest sacrament from the godless religion of Liberalism — abortion. Defeat abortion, and you defeat liberalism.
We are gathering momentum; Gov. Mike Huckabee will be here on September 8 to speak in support of the personhood initiative, and other speakers are being lined up. Yard signs are popping up everywhere, a true sign of a grassroots, citizens’ effort. What the Tea Party accomplished in 2010 was great, but what we’ll accomplish with this initiative will be the single most important piece of civil rights legislation in our country’s history. So pay attention to this fight; in several very real ways, our future as a nation depends upon it.
King James Version (KJV)
5Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
The right to life from conception forward is a fundamental tenet of American Conservatism and the author is correct that this would be a massive blow to liberalism. Simply massive. The cornerstone of liberalism is relief from individual responsibility. The destruction of Roe v. Wade would force individual responsibility in an immediate and profound way and set this country back on the path to restoring its former greatness. Go Mississippi!
