House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that religious liberty objections to the Obamacare rule mandating that all health insurance policies — except those for clergy and church employees — pay for sterilization and FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortion, were an “excuse.” She stressed that religious freedom under the First Amendment was not the issue but that “this is about women’s health.”
The mandate, as part of Obamacare, was finalized on Jan. 20 and is set to take effect on Aug. 1. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Orthodox Christian bishops, leading Protestant pastors, and more than 158 members of Congress have denounced the regulation and several lawsuits have been filed challenging its constitutionality.
Although Pelosi is a Catholic, she strongly defends the regulation, which would require Catholic individuals to pay for health insurance that covers actions contrary to their faith, e.g., abortion-inducing drugs (“Morning After” pill).
Debate over the rule, issued by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is a “sad one,” said Pelosi, because “the overwhelming practice is going in favor of women’s health.”
Pelosi is a Catholic in Name Only (a CINO perhaps). She lectures the Pope on the Catholic Faith. She claims she’s an expert on the Fathers of the Church. The only relief I have regarding Pelosi is that God is perfect love, perfect mercy and perfect justice. One way or another, Pelosi has some explaining to do. She is using the Saul Alinsky playbook – Rules for Radicals – demonize the opponent. Twist the facts to make it fit your objective. Leave your distortions vague enough so you don’t get caught in lies and to let the people read their agenda into it.
The liberal/socialists do this on every issue. It has come time to expose each issue.
Also, Van Jones, the community organizer and self-professed communist, talks about “nudge”. Nudging is the continual, non-stop pushing the opposition, little by little into accepting your changes. Obama and the rest of the liberals call this “compromise”. Not all compromise is good; regardless of the demonization they toss our way
This is about killing after conception through the morning after pill and other abort fascists (those methods of birth control that kill after conception). The Catholic Church believes that this is the killing of an innocent human being, and their belief is grounded in science. The Federal Government is telling the Catholic Church that they must participate in the killing of this innocent minority group, the unborn, or close down their hospitals. And why is the government forcing the Catholic Church to close down their hospitals or violate their most deeply held beliefs? Why are conscientious objectors? Allowed to avoid killing in war, but the Catholic Church is not given the same right? Why can’t hospitals insure what they want to insure and allow people to choose the insurance plan they like. There are plenty of plans that offer these birth control methods and they are widely available. Whatever happened to choice? Whatever happened to freedom from the government prohibiting the free exercise of religion?
What a pathetic hack she is. It’s time for faux Catholics like Pelosi and her ilk to be excommunicated by the Catholic Church. Pelosi once said that her favorite word was “The Word” (as if). Maybe she should take a refresher course on The Word:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”
“If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follows: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lie upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life”
Nah, this isn’t a religious issue, is it?
This isn’t about “women’s health” and never has been. No one is preventing women from obtaining birth control. The whole issue is whether the government can force a religious institution to perform deeds that are against the very foundation of those institutions beliefs. First of all; no women is forced to work for a religious institution that prohibits the issue of contraception. Secondly, if they do choose to go to work for them those same women aren’t “denied” health care; they get health insurance just like everyone else but it does not provide for contraceptive devices and abortion related products. However, those women can obtain them somewhere else. Of course they would have to (horror of horrors) pay for those services themselves.
I despise Democrats. They live by the lie and Pelosi is one of the worst.
